Swedish Midsummer – a holiday devoted to eating, drinking, dancing and assorted pagan rituals. This is a guide to making the most of it.

In Sweden the Midsummer is such an important festivity that there have been serious discussions to make the Midsummer's Eve into the National Day of Sweden, instead of June 6. It may also be referred to as St. Hans Day.

Was fun.
Food was great but found a hair in my pie.
Got a nice bear suit at the end.
Would recommend 5/5.

I love all the "Midsommar" jokes in the comments, and the channel manager has a good sense of humor...
I would love to visit sweden someday.

What a beautiful country with the most beautiful, kindest people. Looking forward to traveling here again. As an American with Russian background I an appreciate a good pickled herring. The best I've had in the world was in Sweden.

My boyfriend's Swedish friend is inviting his friends and me back to his home to celebrate! It's gonna be amazing. I've experienced a lot of tragedy recently so it'll be a great way to get my mind off of things.

My whole life Sweden has played a massive role in my life because when my mom was in high school they had a Swedish exchange student come and stay for a year and, since my mothers an only sibling, the two are basically sisters. So we’ve kept a pretty close relation to our Swedish “family”. I’ve always wanted to go to Midsommer since my mom went to one when she was in Sweden for a whole summer and I’ve always wanted to go.

Hollywood has a remarkable ability to turn wholesome and innocent things into creepy, scary ones. They did it with european trips, nursery rhymes and kids' songs, dolls, holidays and traditions like Halloween and now Midsummer. I've been to one of these Midsummer festivals years before the movie came out and let me tell you it was the most innocent event I've ever been to. I remember watching this video before this movie even had a trailer. And the festival only lasted a few hours I think, certainly not days. All I can say is, don't let Hollywood warp your view of the world or you won't even leave the house out of fear.

I used to do this when I was a child and my mom worked on a Swedish school and I really miss it now. Playing the små grodorna song, making and eating pepparkakor, and participating in Sankta Lucia celebration were the things I loved the most when that school still existed.

this is midsummer on the eastern side of Sweden. On the west coast its a lot more focused on the pickled herring and the shrimp/crayfish
