The year of 2020 marks the 20th anniversary of the London Eye.

Originally planned to remain for just five years, the London Eye's success has meant that it has stayed in central London since the millennium.

The wheel was designed by architects Julia and David Marks Barfield.
It took seven years and the skills of hundreds of people from five different countries to make the London Eye a reality.

Only built to be there 5 years lets hope it's maintained properly. Makes me think, the most iconic architecture isn't planned to be iconic. Think about it, the red telephone box, routemasters, the yellow NY taxi etc. That is something modern architects, city-planners should think of.

I've only been on it once, don't plan to go on it again really, but I really would feel a loss if it was removed. I love that it's still there.
