Karystos

Karystos, the capital of South Evia, is built on one of the southernmost parts of the island. The large gulf of Karystos is surrounded by long beaches and on the North side there are some coves. Behind the town, the Ochi mountain, where according to mythology, supreme god Zeus met his wife Hera. Moreover, the best preserved dragon house of Evia is located exactly on top of mount Ochi, at a height of 1404 mThe Gulf gives protection from Meltemi, however there are strong gusts  from the mountains. The harbour is protected also from South winds by the breakwater and is divided in two parts: the first is for the yachts, while the other for the local fishing boats. You can drop the anchor in front of the long beach on the Westside. Go close to the beach, till you reach a depth of 4-5 meters. The bottom is sand.
