To this day, WWE struggles with the fact that it might never hold the record for the biggest wrestling crowd, because of the event "Collision in Korea." This event, organized with Antonio Inoki's promotion, brought in an incredible 300, 000 people over two days in a North Korean stadium. Even though WWE could technically claim the record by buying the promotion involved, this event still stands out as a significant and eerie moment in wrestling history. Dark side of the ring season 3, episode 4 covers this. Fun watch with a perspective that barely anyone else in the world has experienced but scary for those involved.

Thing about that stadium is, it's big and grandiose but it just had no Seoul. 😊

Collision in Korea was spromotied by WCW and NJPW at the time. It was a two day event, with reported attendance figures of 150, 000 for Night One and 190, 000 for Night Two. Main event both nights were Ric Flair versus Antonio Inoki, who traded wins.

Eric Bischoff talked about this at length one of the early episodes of his 83 Weeks podcast. Definitely worth a listen, if you are interested in an American's opinion regarding North Korea.

The MCG's new Shane Warne Stand is gonna extend the capacity to 115, 000. It hosts multiple friendly's including Liverpool v Melb.Victory in 2012, Man UTD v Melb.Victory in 2019, and Tottenham v Newcastle in 2024

Anyone want to explain why they got to host a one off western wrestling match in North Korea ? Also that stadium 🏟 hosted the 13th World Festival of Youth and Students organized by the World Federation of Democratic Youth as its 1st event in 1989.

There's now a cricket stadium in India that holds around 140 000. Bring back The Great Kahli and fill the place!

Japan played a WC qualifier game there back in 15th Nov 2011 - team featured Bundesliga stars such as Uchida, Yoshida, Hasebe, Okazaki & Kagawa. Iim pretty sure this is the only time Japan has ever played there? Japan lost 1-0 due to bad pitch & very hostile environment. Since then Japan has won every game with ease.

You say it’ll never host a major tournament but FIFA would go there if the cheque was big enough.
