I do digital art 90% of the time and I forgot how to draw good on paper

It’s ok! Digital can be stupidly hard at times for no reason so don’t worry it’s not just you cause I struggle too lol

The only way I draw digitally is by doing this
I like drawing a sketch and using it as my base drawing and I outline it and make it the line art and then I put a base layer that colors everything inside the outline and I just add clipping masks over it for things like clothes, hair, eyes, accessories, (etc.)

Personally I draw on paper, then just extract the line drawing and clean up those lines with an airbrush eraser tool :)

Same with traditional, you do the lineart but then you erase and it looks completely different

In some art programs, There are tools to extract line drawing. it'll keep the roughness of the sketch if you do want to colour your sketches

Tbh my tip is inking in non black colors then adjusting the layers, I use like bright pinks and greens since they stand out you will preserve your opacity but it makes things a lot easier to distinguish between your sketch and ink

And thus why you needa use the holy "extract color" tool if ya have it or turn the drawing to monochrome then extract color, either way, best to keep the sketch and color under it

I've found that taking the sketch and putting a gaussian blur on it (just to the point where its slightly blurry) before you start doing lineart digitally can be incredibly helpful! That way you aren't focused on individual strokes, instead the overall shape!!

I always draw art on paper and make it digital and color it like that bc I just can’t draw good digitally in under a day or a week even-
