Every time I tap my knee I end up kicking the guitar across the room. I have good reflexes.

1 Play harmonic, 2 tap the tuning fork and listen to both... 3 Finetune with the tuning fork vibrating placed on the bridge strech/release the A string until it resonates perfectly with the tuning fork... A snark tunner like the air will make things quicker, but using a tuning fork is much more precise.

Thanks i was striking the tuning fork using my butt cheeks to hold it. The two finger tip was really a game changer.

IF THE FORK IS *440Hz (A)*
1. PLAY THE *A HARMONIC* ON THE 7TH FRET OF FOURTH STRING OF YOUR GUITAR
2. QUICKLY RING THE FORK (FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTION)
3. QUICKLY PUT THE FORK ON THE BRIDGE AND MATCH THE HARMONIC SOUND OF YOUR STRING WITH THE SOUND OF THE TUNING FORK

I’m greatly amused that in the age of Snark we need this tutorial. I do keep a 440 fork in my case. I encourage people to tune by ear and check w/ a snark. I do like to be a touch flat on my B for depth

Commit low e to memory. Then 5 th fret 4th fret then back to 5th tuning

My band teacher tells us that the sound waves bouncing around means a lot of the instruments are out of tune. Using this i tuned my guitar by ear by picking open on 1st and 2nd string. If the sound waves stop bouncing around and form a perfect, smooth noise, it’s in tune.

I used to tune my bass with a tuning fork. I plucked the harmonic note first and let it ring. Then, I tapped and held the tuning fork on the bass body. With my free hand, I adjusted the tuners.

This method is better because you can hear both notes at the same time. The difference between the two frequencies will cause them to waver faster if the notes are very far off from each other and slower as they become closer to the same frequency. When the two frequencies are perfectly matched, there will be no wavering, and the two tones will sound like the one tone.

Once you get the first string tuned to the tuning fork pitch harmonically, you then match the other strings to each other in the same way, by plucking a harmonic note on each string, letting them ring and then tuning the desired string until the wavering stops.

When you tune like this guys just close your eyes and imagine two wavy line not in sync. When you get closer to the same note the waves will sound like they are coming together to become one. Waves will sound super “wavy” and as you get closer the waves will collapse on each other creating one wave. 5th fret harmonics. 4th fret on B string to tune high E. I hope I explained that good lol

I hit the harmonic first then do the fork part. It allows you to tune them together. Memory can be faulty but tuning together is precise.

First video I’ve seen of yours but you seem very well educated and well spoken definitely will be watching more

You can even place a little paper on the string and when the tuning fork and string have same frequency the paper will fall down due to constructive interference of waves.

When I first started playing guitar that's the way I learned to tune. I didn't realize there was any such thing as a tuner so I didn't know there was any other way. In the long-run i was glad I learned to rely on my ears because even when I began using tuners I could always hear when my B string (which is notorious for being off regardless of what the tuner says) was not quite in pitch, even if the difference was minutae.

5:43 when i saw Killarmy i flipped out cause im a teenager who likes crate digging and found about them because of an old Mario Lanza vinyl i bought at Goodwill and found out they sampled that record on their song “Day One”. Was really cool cause I have not heard a single other person mention them outside of extremely obscure wu tang forums and the odd reddit post here and there.

Love it. Understood absolutely nothing.

Only thing is, tuning varies from band to band or genre to genre. So if you just feel like jamming to your playlist you can end up changing a lot in one play session.

Now that's amazing how they managed to find how sound works to make such a device. It's just that it's kinda pointless getting that unless you don't have a phone or any modern tuner
