Meet Me In Church - Bobby Marchan - 1967

Bobby Marchan broke out as a solo act onto the national scene with his 1960 hit, There's Something On Your Mind. Formerly the lead singer with Huey Smith And The Clowns, Marchan was an extreme performer. He recorded for a variety of labels throughout the 1960's including Ace, Fire, Dial, and Cameo Parkway. Meet Me In Church was his cover version of the Joe Tex penned song from 1962. It was also covered by Solomon Burke and Tony Borders as well. Marchan's version was the B-Side to Hooked, on Cameo Parkway in 1967, just as the company was going belly-up. After that he turned full time toward performing in drag around the New Orleans club scene, where he was very popular on the circuit.
