Dr Barbara Rolls says you should focus on food with water, like fruits and vegetables.

Great analysis of correlation doesn't mean causation.

Overhydration should not be ignored as a potential side effect of drinking more water.

Don't a variety of comorbidities associated with obesity cause dehydration? Like heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure, etc.

Hi Dr Greger, I am absolutely in shock. I have just had a blood test and been told my cholesterol is high (I am 40 years old). I eat mainly a wholefoods plant based diet, eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, legumes, etc and very little in processed foods. I am very slightly overweight, I don't drink or smoke. The only thing I am guilty of is not getting enough exercise.

Please can you offer some advice on what I can do? I am genuinely confused and shocked; I thought by eating a WFPB diet I'd avoid the risk of a heart attack, stroke etc. Now I'm genuinely very concerned, despite my efforts to eat healthy.

Many thanks.

I guess drinking water does not left you thirsty. Being thirsty can be misinterpreted as being hungry

Drinking cold water on an empty stomach always made my stomach hurt.

I am extremely obese, but I'm working on it. I have a withings scale that scans body also. It has consistently said I am severely dehydrated.

I am avoiding drinking more than 3 cups an hour so I don't flush out electrolytes. But I can not get enough to move out of danger zone. I started out well above 400. How many cups a day would I have had to drink to stay hydrated. I think it's in the gallons range.

Ayurveda advises against drinking cold water because it can disrupt the body's natural balance and harm digestion:
Dampens agni
Ayurveda considers the body's digestive fire, or agni, to be essential for health. Cold water can weaken agni, which is hot and sharp, and is responsible for processing food, thought, and emotions.
Requires more energy
The body's core temperature is around 98.6°F, and drinking cold water requires the body to use extra energy to restore that temperature.
Shunts blood away from the digestive tract
Cold drinks can divert blood away from the digestive tract, which can weaken the system.
Can lead to other health issues
Drinking cold water can cause constipation, heart issues, and kidney failure.

Even if drinking more water is not causing weight loss it will eventually because you will have less space in you to fill with calories. Haha
