Im using kali in VMware and sharing my wifi connection with my mac. If I go to whatismyip both the machine and my mac have the same IP address. I want Kali to have a different one. What is odd is on Kali when I do the ifconfig it's different to when I go to whatismyip (within a browser in kali).. but aside from that when I use your method to attempt to change it I just get "SIOCSIFADDR: Operation not permitted
SIOCSIFFLAGS: Operation not permitted". So no idea what to do here..
