I think it was actually your channel that got me watching youtube! I often don't comment on videos I watch because I'm always behind at least a few days watching the videos and a lot of times it seems that the comments don't get seen or get lost in the shuffle by then. But I very much appreciate your content on both channels!

I was agreeing with everything you were saying about social media! I want to quit it all, but then I'd be cutting myself off from legitimate connections as well. It's such a frustrating pendulum lol.

Great conversation! I also don’t understand the need to thumbs down or comment negatively. Just stop watching the video and move on. The one that really gets me is when the person just must say “I am unsubscribing to your channel”. Okay do that, you don’t need my permission lol! I agree that we have to constantly monitor our scrolling time it will take over if left to run amuck. I enjoy your videos so very much and am thankful that you share your life with us. ❣️

You're one of my top go-tos for book recs! It's funny, we can get so wrapped up in social media that we forget other people aren't on the same social media spheres as us. When I talks with friends about books I find myself almost saying "Oh yeah, did you see Chantel recommended that one?" forgetting that we're probably on different parts of Youtube.

Enjoyed listening to your discussion! I use social media (facebook) generally to keep in touch with people I see often in real life (like our homeschool co-op families) and to keep family updated with pictures. Try to avoid the politics on facebook.

The weightiness of all my online interactions being a witness is often what immobilizes means from engaging online - like me dragging my feet with starting a YouTube channel. With other social media, your content is always there, but eventually fades away, and I feel like YouTube content has the potential for reaching people long after it’s been posted if people start going through your older stuff. Pressure!

I really appreciate you doing these videos. “There [IS] so much garbage.” I went through all of the social media platforms I had at one time and I 💯 agree that the reasons you broke from them or seldom use them is how I’ve felt. My only social media now is You/BookTube. I do not have a channel, but I am totally a consumer. I know I love commenting and knowing it’s making a difference for you and it’s appreciated.

I’m an over-the-top introvert, so this is perfect for my comfort zone.

I stopped using FB many years ago and deleted my personal IG account years ago too and have never regretted it!! 👍🏻👍🏻
I totally try to comment on every video I watch too!! (Also on the smaller-ish channels 😉)

Love this video!!! I have a rule I try to stick to whenever I comment on any social media platform that my comment would be something I would fill comfortable saying in person. I've never understood why people would waste their time arguing on the internet or to just be cruel to someone.

I feel very similar on leaving comments on things. I use to do that with blog posts as well. If I used my time to gain information or to be entertained then I felt like I should leave some sort of comment on it. I quit a bunch of social media a few years ago. I just found it to be too negative and a waste of my time. That said I do feel like I miss out on people's news. There are enough people that I hang out with that don't have FB that at least some of them get it :-P I do have Instagram but I try to set a time limit on it. I was doing better with that but I need to cut back again ;-). I am the worst at coming up with ideas on stuff.. but I don't want the bridge to become a pier! So maybe do a video on stepping outside of your comfort zone by hosting people at your house, or greeting people at church, or whatever it is that is out of your comfort zone in that regard.

Okay. It’s odd to comment with complaints. If you like the channel, like I do, watch. If you don’t, find another channel that suits you better. 🤔 I enjoy your book recommendations and the filters you apply to them.

There are so many times that I type out a comment and then end up deleting it because I'm so paranoid it will come off as negative. I end up over analyzing everything that I usually just don't comment, so instead I try like most of the videos especially smaller channels.
