We Buy Gifts For A WHOLE CAMP Of Refugees!

Hi guys! This episode is a little different from our usual sailing and Greek Island travels.....
Over Christmas 2020 we decided that we wanted to do something special and create some extra cheer for those less fortunate. Our winter home of Leros Island in Greece is also a hot spot for refugee's who have fled from their home countries to seek a safer and better life - so we raised funds to provide presents for the refugee children on Leros.

In this episode we hope to raise awareness for the refugees, everyone involved in their care and to say a special thank you to everyone who donated to 'A Christmas Wish'.

So glad you managed to go into the camp ans had out the toys to the children. So very very sad that they have had to leave everything behind and risk their lives to get to safety. Those poor people . Such a lovely idea ..I shed a tear I have to admit. Well done all x

What a brilliant idea. You fully deserved the over-subscription and the joy of the kids. I loved the waterproof mascarra idea! Well done, and I'm so glad the recorder was accidently left on.
I'm old enough to remember rationing after WW2 so I recognised the way those 2 kids opened their presents. C-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y. So the wrapping paper could be reused! We had to cut the sellotape carefully (which the kids couldn't do, but still tried not to rip the paper). Also, back in the day, string was used a lot to wrap parcels; we had to cut the string near the knot to keep as long a piece as poss for reuse. With the climate emergency, these things will happen again! That's a memory to treasure when your kids rip excitedly into their presents, paper flying everywhere.
