My friend left her teaching job and now earns her income by helping other parents homeschool if they need to work or if they just need some help in navigating their new way of schooling. Great things happen when moms come together! Not easy, but WORTH IT!

Im a very busy mom, working outside of my home. Everytime I go home from work, I have no energy to take care of my kids and manage my household. Im just too tired and mentally exhausted. I want to stay home with my kids and have a nice and clean home. But my husband wants me to work and grind because he thinks that SAHM are lazy people. I earn money so much more than him and since he wants this equality, I let him do almost all the household chores because Im bringing more money than him and I just sit all day on the couch on my off days. He even wants me to do some side hustle, I told him that he should be the one who should bring the extra cash because hes the provider and the man of the family. Men nowadays are feminized and weak. When I had my kids, I never thought of wanting to be a SAHM this bad because my mind was so conditioned that being a career woman is the only way to go. I was wrong. I guess I just married the wrong guy because all he cares for is the money that I should be contributing to run our home. I have no respect left for my husband.

I agree with Dave. Start planning and get things in motion. But realistically most women can't work from home uninterrupted with very young children. I can't tell you how many meetings my son has interrupted meetings and such. You also risk kids getting hurt if you're not watching them 24/7. It only takes seconds for them to do something. Now CPS is on your case and stuff. Being a SAHM and working from home is a great idea in theory but hard in practice. Her best bet will be to take students in the evening or on weekends when her husband can watch the baby.

If she is a full time teacher and their combined income is around $80k it sounds like his photography gig is more of a hobby than a business.

He's going to need to step up and make some extra money too.

If she is teaching full time it's likely she provides the medical insurance for the family. Loss of job = loss of insurance and 401K match. This might not be a good idea.

Sounds like she's the main breadwinner. I'm surprised Dave didn't help the man figure out how to provide more.

If you do your role and she does hers and you are both financially reponsible and want it I don't see the problem.

A photographer is typically not a job that you can have a stay at home wife and be comfortable unless he is one of the best.

I totally agree there is side money to be earned to help her husband. I wanted to stay home with my babies so badly that I was willing to watch other peoples kids so I could. I always thought even if my time was divided between my kids and the children I was caring for at least I was able to give them a little more than a 9-5 mom and I knew my kids needs were met.

Daycare is expensive. You may have a job where you pay the amount you get in on daycare. You should be financial stable before you have kids.

I feel like this advice is so insensitive to the wife. The work of having a baby and keeping house is almost always, overwhelmingly, the woman's job and he wants her to add building a business on top of her 9 to 5? Sounds like a recipe for mental breakdown and burnout

If she quits her teachet job...who wil pay the bills????😷😷😷😷😷

You never know how well those children are being taken care of in daycare. People should either stay home and raise their own children or not have them. Instead of buying large homes and newer cars, put your kids first.

Simply reply "I want to be a stay at home dad"

How do they only make $80k a year? Many teachers in Northern Virginia make over $100k a year, so even as a newish teacher she should be making at least $70k, is he making any money? Something is not adding up here.

I love Dave but he is giving advice that he didn't use for his own family. Follow what Dave did-not the advice he's giving. He didn't tell Sharon this when they were in debt. Sharon stayed home and raised his kids and he took care of the finances.

As usual, a subject that SHOULD have been discussed PRE-wedding and PRE-baby. But what do I know. . . .

Sounds like they can’t afford for her to stay at home

However parents can organize their work schedules so that they are adequately raising their kids is paramount. They don't need a huge house with lots of fancy clothes and toys/gadgets. They need a stable home, food, water, and unity in the household. Money is good, but it should not be the top priority when it comes to your family.
