Wildfires and historic heatwaves are bringing misery to Europe and large areas of the United States, where 100 million Americans faced heat warnings on July 20, 2022. US President Joe Biden said climate change is an emergency, but he stopped short of declaring a state of emergency. Biden did announce plans to fund cooling centres and he pushed for new offshore wind projects in the oil-rich Gulf of Mexico. In Europe, the United Nations warned that heatwaves were contributing to deadly wildfires in France, Greece, Portugal and Spain.

This is the sign that climate change shouldn't be ignored

I am genuinely hoping that whatever executive actions the Biden Administration has prepared are legitimate and will see the actual effect. I don't care what everyone says though, I am enthralled that we have a president who actually cares about our country and is not going to spend 4 years denying it, pulling the US out of the Paris Agreement, and denying Covid is a problem.

US should be accountable for burning forest!! I just hope no double standard for these incidents, otherwise there will be much less forest in US.

But in the US we get a wildefire in California every year. It's honestly not a surprise anymore. But when it's in other states, that hits differently.

Texas where I am: severe droughts, air is dry, no visual on any wildfire smoke, but Sahara dust is in the air making the Sunsets look unreal and beautiful 🌆 trying my best to conserve clean drinkable fresh water, and my parents' house's foundation has shifted a little with dry dirt sun cracks in the ground near the foundation of the house. Temps here get up at around 104°F/40°C daily, and there is no rain for the foreseeable next 10 days according to meteorologists in the area. High temps in the high 90s-107°F/41°C for the next 10 days.

Temperatures are below 48C right? Or they above 50?, cause we have around 47 46 every summer, many forests but never heard a wildfire talking place.

the problem with building in USA is that it'll take 50 years just to get a permit

There should be a levy on the world's polluters, and US/other developed countries should also contribute towards the world's transition to greener energy sources, given their historic reliance on fossil fuel - but politicians on all sides are refusing to take any meaningful actions.
