If The Doors did a collaboration with Black Sabbath.

This has to have been the heaviest riff in existence in 1969.

Sirius xm liquid metal brought me here!
Holy shit the rock in the late 60s was fucking more pure than the acid they were on.
This came from the soul!

holy shit! a friend gave me a copy of the new 3 disc boxset & this totally blew me away...he reviews albums for a living & passes on anything he thinks I might like; love this proto-metal sound & the guitarist is incredible....why the hell am I only hearing this now? I'm a big time music freak & I thought I heard it all....these guys should be legends

I remember tripping to this song when I took my first acid tab. I was laughing like a dumb ass, I also remember looking at the pop corn ceiling and saw them come down and back up. When I hit my peak I was fucked because I remember thinking my whole life.

I saw them live, brilliant! Spring 69 at Essex University, I think. Best, Pete.

I've been listening to music for 58 years and this is still my favourite album. It's like a rock version of Phil Spectror's wall of sound.

Genius song, i bow to the absolute greatest of this song, of this band, of that album.

Am I the only one who thinks this sounds very similar to Iron Butterfly (even in the voice)?? P.S. Very good piece of progressive-psychedelic rock!

Brilliant debut! As chilling as The Doors, with a heavy, Black Sabbath/Sir Lord Baltimore feel--but this was before Sab and SLB. Love them all, but this band should be known--there is a flurry of sixteenth notes from Tony Hill's guitar (who is also lead singer) that fit so well with House's violin speedy interplay - all while sounding much like the Lizard King. Love the band!

Today, 14 January 2022, is the first time I've heard this. Very cool.

Yup, without even having to think about it the Doors sensor blinked on. Bought this in 73' (sealed as a cutout for a quarter at the Sound Peddler in Sacramento) don't know if the Doors similarities were picked up on then, but this was like a tidal wave of raw heaviness that may have seemed too raw at the time. Now it's like leisurely stroll in a lovely garden on sunny spring day. Anyway, this is one of those records that makes you think these guys must have had a time machine.

This was released 1 yr before Black Sabbath released their debut album.

WOW! Totally sick distortion on that guitar.

Quite respectfully, these guys have one foot fully into heavy metal territory. While not full on Sabbath or Priest, their proto-Metal style better answers “what is heavy metal” then those often given the proto label, such as Blue Oyster Cult or Grand Funk Railroad.

I hear the vocaling styles of Morrison also. I wonder if Josh Hommes listen it's got that queen of the stone age feel...

Up your exploitation to the mill
I can fly and I will
Kill your dreams of darkness now
Turn around,
See me cryin'

Smell the burning flesh in the air
Screamin' "child must you stare"
Fryin' slowly to the bone
When you're gone,
Who'll be cryin'?

Mother Earth sees the bird
Shitting all over her
Vomiting their lies of truth
In her youth,
She was smiling

Are you warm, are you clean?
Satisfied with your scene?
Positively where it's at
Growing fat
Off your brother

I am such amazed, cease my pain
Slowing down confusion in my brain
Only to be born again
As they pretend
I grow weary
