How to do a backside 50-50 on ramps! Surf skate tutorial for Floaters!

The backside 50-50 is an awesome way to link your tricks together and rebuild your speed. It's very similar to a floater in surfing where the rider grinds the top of the lip almost like coping! In this episode of WorkforAvocados, I'm breaking down the trick step by step so you can incorporate it into your runs!

Big shout out to Jimmy Blumenfeld and @joshtraceysurfing for sharing their footage of what we are trying to do out in the water!

I'm an average board rider out of North Florida who loves surfing, skating, and being stoked on the small stuff. This channel is documenting my journey as a better rider and sharing what I learn along the way. I also do tons of awesome travel vlogs and interview people in the industry who share a similar stoke for life. If that sounds like a path you may be on, consider pressing the subscribe button!

First important thing I learned from this tutorial is that I need to start learning those on a smaller ramp rather than straight into a 6ft deep curve of a bowl 😅
Great video, thank you, I'll give it another watch for sure next time I find a 3 to 4ft ramp before I get back at it in the bowl.

Makes me want to go back to those grinds at parks.
Good job.

Love this video. I’m about 5 months into surf skating and at about this point in my journey. Your drop in video was super handy and I’ve mastered that. Now time to piece it all together!

Really good tutorial. Makes me want to try 50/50 now. Especially as we have the exact same set up (WT, CX, SSk8Love81a) so no excuse!

Nice vid. I would however encourage anyone learning to axle drop in to push their back trucks as far forward on the coping as possible ie so the back heel wheel is abutting the coping, that way you will avoid a hang up when kicking in.

Bro you explain so clearly but I think this is a bit advanced for me. I think you are a great teacher and would love to see some straight beginner videos from you, pumping, carving, kick turns, very basic tricks, etc. Starting from ground zero stuff. I just started and there are some amazing videos but seem like most take for granted that you know the basics. Anyways, subbed and look forward to going through your videos. Oh yeah bout to order that same deck haha.

i guess now i know that my 65mm wheels wont be big enough for my c5. i feel my cx is too high. i like how the c5 is much lower. did the 65mm wheels on the c5 perform well? i was afraid of wheel bite. Thank you, love your content

Hi great vid! Would you reckon they work with smoothstar or yow trucks as well? Or are they to loose?

your board setup looks like C5s and slimeballs? I have the same setup I love the lightness of the trucks, do you use risers?

Are you in the surf skate love wheels? I just got mine yesterday and took my first ride this morning. I am not good at surf skating but I have been enjoying the sessions. I just started trying to get to coping. Still lacking a bit of comfort and feel to get it.

How does it feel doing this on CX trucks vs C5?

Doing them like that is sketchy on not the ideal way to do the trick. Crosslocking or a double pinch is better. I always teach beginners how to pinch their back truck before entering. Too easy to clip up on the way in. You are on huge, soft wheels that roll right over. Most people dont skate wheels nearly that big and soft, so they will clip up easily. Unless I missed it, you dont really discuss the exit, which is the most difficult part of doing full decked 50-50's
