I first heard this track in July 1967 while I was at school. We were at an Army camp as a part of the toy soldier (Cadet Force) brigade as were pretty much obliged to do. We had spent the day learning how to kill the “enemy” and as I had no intention of killing anyone I hated the whole sordid experience. In the evening we returned to the barrack and went into the NAAFI and there was All You Need is Love playing. I fell in love with the song and it became a major influence on my outlook on life as I immediately realised that so much of the establishment was about hate and greed when it should be simply about love. My dislike of the military intensified and I still fail to understand why, at a global level, people allow it to pose such a threat to world security.
