I've always loved this piece of music and particularly this intro. It's not just the remarkable speed that makes it sing it's also the expression - each note played hard and distinctly - like a true classical pianist! Well done for having the patience to work this out I don't know if I could have done it. From a Yes fan that is as old as the band and enjoys a tinkle on the piano.

Those last two little notes at the end are so perfect after the amazing waterfall of notes.
It's kind of mirrored at the end of the song by Steve's little guitar riff that helps us to land back on earth after the journey the song takes us on.

Years ago I saw YES do Awaken for the first in decades since I saw it on the Going For The One tour, but with with Geoff Downes playing keyboards. I don't remember how he did. Later that same year, I saw Anderson Rabin and Wakeman do it with Rick on keyboards. I think they did it to give Rick a keyboard showpiece and it was totally bizzare for me to watch Rabin do the guitar parts.

Great song but GFTO is rarely considered the “pinnacle” of Yes music.
