What Are Common Issues with Invisalign?
Показать описание
There are a few common issues that can occur with Invisalign. None of them are serious issues, and all of them can be easily handled at home before visiting your orthodontist in the office.
In this video, Diamond Braces Chief Clinical Officer explains what to do for a few common Invisalign issues.
Issue #1: The aligner is irritating the gums.
Solution: Use a clean nail file to rub down the edge of the aligner where it is irritating your gum. Or, you can take a clean pair of scissors or nail clippers to cut it down. Don't cut too much away or it can damage the effectiveness of the aligner: just cut the part that's rubbing against your gum. You can try trimming it a few times to get the right length where it no longer bothers your gum.
Issue#2: An attachment broke off
Solution: Your orthodontist uses multiple attachments to give the aligners the grip they need to move your teeth into place: losing one attachment won't interrupt your care. If it becomes loose, you can remove it, and at your next appointment, your orthodontist will decide whether to affix a new one in its place.
Issue #3: Lost a Button for Rubber Bands
Solution: The buttons attach to your teeth to hold the rubber bands in place, if these are a part of your treatment. If one button falls off, don't worry, it won't seriously impact your Invisalign care. Stop wearing the rubber bands: at your next appointment, your orthodontist will re-attach a button so you can go back to wearing the rubber bands.
To keep your Invisalign treatment going smoothly, be sure to brush and floss every day, and wear your Invisalign aligners as directed by your doctor!
