I've always thought Gen 3's Gym Leader theme needed a punchier style and this just kind of makes it. The harmonics and the heavy rhythm add that extra dynamic to make it feel like a tense, fast-paced battle, like it actually means something, not that the original didn't do that already, but as I said, it wasn't quite impactful enough for me.

This one, on the other hand, I'd be happy to listen to during a gym battle.

3am...Friday morning, I was eating cereal, staring at my phone screen with a straight, blank face. I went down the list of my subscriber videos. One by one, I viewed each video, my expression unchanged as I continued to bite down a bowl of soggy Frosted Flakes.

I finally reached this video, the intro plays and without warning, my head starts to bobble in conjunction with the rhythm. My expression, still unchanged.

Ignoring the flakes that always somehow find their way to stick to the side of the bowl, I began the last phase of eating cereal...drinking the milk.

The video reaches 1:05 . With a mouth full of milk, the lovely sound of the guitar penetrated my soul, my mouth slowly opening. My eyes, widening. Many emotions suddenly woke up from their slumber. The world around me ceased to exist, I was floating in a land of nothingness. I felt a cold sensation where my heart is, "what is this?" I thought to myself. 1:15, the riff ends and my senses are slowly returning me. My expression, changed.

As I regain control of myself, I realized 2 things...
1. Wow 1:05 - 1:15 really hit me
2. There's milk all over my shirt

Honestly the most memorable mention of this song for me was in Pokemon XD and Colosseum. I did remember it in Emerald/Ruby/Sapphire but it stuck in my head when I was playing Colosseum and XD. I wasn't as focused on winning in those games more than I was in the original main series games. I don't know just when if had friends over, this song would play and it was the most epic thing I had played in a Pokemon game at the time.
