Given solution will not work because in reality its is much more complex like, secured boundary sitting in between source and AWS, proprietary file format, KMS does not support KMIP standard etc..

Encrypting data with using a key managed by AWS doesnt look that secure to me. What is the point of encrypting at all if it doesn't give you the sense of security you want. Better encrypt inhouse with the keys stored on YOUR server.
