Entered Tokyo (Haneda) on 12'th Oct with MySos Blue and i was out of airport in less than 12 minutes (i didn't have any check-in luggage), it was the smoothest and most efficient process

I just came back from yokohama and Shinjuku area for my first Japan trip. I used the app on the 11th. With no issue the airports (NRT) were very organized ( like everything else in Japan. Customs had no issues other than I brought some jerky that was confiscated with no punishment just a very friendly reminder to not do that again.

Chinese might spend the most as a whole, but per person back during the last good year 2019 Australians dolled out the most cash. When I get there in 9 days I'll be doing my part to keep that record.

Yup, I can attest to the fast tracking, I arrived this week on the 18th they only took like 10 mins. Bear in mind I have come to Japan for work. So far loving it.

Thank you so much for the update John! No wonder why my MySos application for January 23 trip is not showing any progress after 3 weeks now😅 now I’m gonna apply the Visit Japan Web. Much appreciated John

Hi John! I flew in on October 24th and it took me ~15minutes to get through immigration and customs with the mySoS app at narita Airport. It was just as fast as pre covid

in europe, I heard that Chinese tourist where given a max limit to the amt of branded goods they can buy per person because they buy a LOT. You wouldn't want to be behind them when you are queuing up for tax returns at the airport 😅 When I was in France, I only had to claim taxes for about 3 items and the officer signaled to move to another faster queue the minute they saw my passport. They know which countries don't shop that much.

I'm not so sure about mainland Chinese tourists coming back anywhere soon. They're still sticking to zero covid strategies and making it really hard for their citizens to go anywhere outside the country. And the economic situation for them has most people cutting back on discretional spending in general.

That is the issue, John. Some people are TOO LAZY to do their own research.

It was a little confusing when getting to the questionnaire part in fast track, saying to "Enter your quarantine address", and started to think I was still required to quarantine. Seems like a bad translation. This helped clear it up. thanks

I used mySOS when I arrived back in June. It has been very smooth and fast, 15 min at airport Narita and off they let me go away. No quarantine needed, and I only have 1 shot of the vaccine.

Do you think Japan will ever lift the vaccine/72 hr test requirement?

I took your advice and cancelled my hotel reservation in Ginza and got one in Asakusa, and indeed, the hotel I chose is walking distance from sensoji temple and right across the Asakusa train station, and way cheaper. Thank you, See you Japan in May 2023.

Thanks for the info John! Bought my yen already. Booking for next march, hopefully by then the process to get in is just as smooth as it was pre-pandemic and no restrictions hopefully 🙏🏻

I also re-iterate that john is NOT an info desk. Hes going out of his way to keep us up to date. READ on your own. Google the info. Its not hard ✌🏻

I'm only at 2:22 but feel like I should mention (as 3 vaccines is more than we required in Canada so I wasn't prepared to travel to Japan as a vaccinated traveller in time)

You still use the MySOS app if you're going the testing route. You'll need to have your test done within 72 hours of you arriving in Japan, and you'll head down a second line. In about 5 minutes (depending on how many people you speed walk ahead of), you show them your test results and they give you a blue sheet of paper that represents the Blue screen the MySOS app has for vaccinated travellers.
I'll keep watching to see if this new app keeps the testing option, but just wanted to clarify that for the non-boosted homies.
