Patrick's expression really sums up these 6 days of printing 😂, thank you for sharing

These multi colour printers are really cool but I don't like the excess waste. 🤔 However I do love how people reffer to it as having a poop chute. 😂

I may have been wrong about the temperature. It could be that it was set for 55C.

Still planning to own a Bambulab X1C and a Prusa XL, but I think this short series illustrates one of the key differences between the two printers: waste management.

Although the XL can arguably handle less colours, the company making it boasts it can reduce the plastic waste significantly. Let's give one point for each printer in that regard.

The XL is also stated not to be built for speed the way the X1C is, but I wonder if the XL toolhead change would be faster than the X1C filament change shown here. Hard to give points there, considering the multi-head XL is still in beta for the next 1.5-2 months.

To be clear, my goal is not to fan the flames that burned the comment sections of so many videos: I'm firmly on team "why not both" and will probably remain for a long while.

I guess it will be significant more waste printing multiple multi color prints at once? As it has to change color several times per layer, and models like the Om Nom normally would keep the same color on multiple layers.

On the bambu screen I noticed it said the bed temp was 55 as well.

So what's your take so far on the practicality of multi color printing like this? It is awesome, it would be really cool to load your print bed with multicolor parts and just let them spit out like this... I'd say it's a true evolution of 3D printing. But mannn, that waste bucket is INSANE! So much waste product :( I'm sure if you do a cost breakdown between the wasted material, the power to run the machine for 6 days straight, and the wear and tear on the Bambu, these toys end up costing a fortune. And for it to take 6 days, and still half of them fail, I dunno how to feel about this. We definitely need speed improvements and less waste.

If you look at the very beginning of the video. It says on the display 55C
Maybe have to tweak the settings

This was probably a really expensive print job, but I was wondering if you could try using the Energetic Textured Plate or some other 3rd party plates as I’ve heard people have better results with them.

Collecting "poop" for the poop contest. 😂

Those toys look amazing!!!… Can the poop be recycled to make new filament or something else?

Please tell me that wasted pla wasn’t just from this one print?

I think this would've been better if you printed everything separately. A failed project wouldn't mean everyone going mad brains lel and there wouldn't be as much waste filament. Still I was super invested in the series! Please show us how they looked!

The screen says 55 for the hot bed temp, maybe you were thinking of what you had the first layer set at? I think I only have my PEI plate set to like 44 for PLA.

I wonder how the colour changes affected the filament cost of printing the models...
