I am a retired truck mechanic and I have always wondered why they never made a Diesel Electric class 8 truck like the big mine haul trucks they would have dynamic braking and such.

The cool thing is that this is still quite a bit more efficient than just using the engine directly, as you can run the engine in its ideal power band constantly. Super interesting!

So it's basically a 60's Kenworth that identifies as a Prius 😆 Love it!
Also, since the engine is only there as a generator means you have unlimited options for mills.

Honestly in the performance car world i've seen this exact concept and i was wondering when it'd make it to the comercial market, and i'm glad it's you bunch of down to earth dudes doing it. Keep on it dudes, you've got the right mindset to make this happen.

Can’t wait to see what you do for a freight hauler!!! This makes all the sense in the world. This is an evolution of technology not explored earlier as some of those were alternative fuels. You’re standing the world on its ears and giving us an alternative spin so to say.

Spent may hours operating komatsu and terex diesel electric 500ton trucks, always wished they made a car or tuck that way. Once your used to them they're far superior. Even at full weight they can just sit at 1100rpm once your hauling 60kph. Pretty good for something that's the size of a 3 story apartment complex

See now I can get down with this! We just finished truck #48 in our region of the new 2023 Mack Bev Garbage trucks, we took delivery from Greensboro (to Raleigh nc) and immediately had to reconfigure and replace batteries, controllers, grab arms, skirts, sending units, just to name a few! Clusters of wiring that hsd even the Mack reps sent to "help explain, " scratching their heads. Turned into a help me help you help me situation lol. But THAT, my friend, is a glorious sight

I'm happy that someone actually decided to make trucks like a locomotive I thought about it years ago is probably as many other people have thought about it just because if it works in a big application just shrink it down it should work fine we all know that the electric motors especially starting off make way more torque until they get to a higher speed the amps drop off with diesel engines what makes them so wonderful is they have a range save from 900 to 1, 500 RPM that they can just make the same amount of torque which is why the diesel engine has worked so well especially in generation applications which it makes sense to pair it up with electric motors

Like others, I’ve been wanting this to exist for years! I’d be awfully tempted to convert my W900 Sunday cruiser to this type of setup. I actually really like the motor being separate from the axles like this too, I love the idea of conventional axles (possibly) with full locking diffs. Since mine is a toy, I’d be curious about adding an electric front axle… but that’s even more of a pipe dream than the rest of it for me! Great truck, great ideas. 🍻
