Reminds me of a chap I met at the track who had a gorgeous Lotus 11, and being a Lotus fan I was impressed and said "is it an original one?" and he said "well, I think so - you know the problem of course - in 1956 Lotus built 270 of them, but now there's only about 600 left."

So Finn’s on the Gin and who can blame him? Great to see the dynamic duo back in action. I am surprised there are no Tank Museum dog treats in the shop but I have a feeling that will change soon. Chewy tank commander bear is a real start, hours of fun to be had with that. But the best for me was a pint of Tiger Piddle. Sorry Tiger beer from the Piddle brewery. You really are a gem David and such a great asset to the Tank Museum in these dark times. You and Finn Keep up the good work. 👍

There is, unfortunately, a common misconception that live / dead track is synonymous to supported/unsupported track. There is no alternate definition of live/dead track to the one which you read out, but the idea of live track being supported and dead track being unsupported has become commonplace and people have come to believe it to be correct despite there being no such engineering definition..

These Curator Talks are just the most fantastic bouts of nerdery. Wonderful work! Just love the whole thing about castellated welding, right down to pulling out an actual copy of the Report into German Welding Techniques on Tank Chassis (or whatever that was) and quoting Dr Welding Von Stuttgart (or whatever that guy’s name was) who says, “Nein, we bodged it”. Absolutely the most comprehensive and airtight armchair expert takedown! 😄

Let's be honest, Finn's the star of these Q&A sessions. I keep looking at him whenever he's in frame.

Thanks again David and I wish you all well, I have been contacted by an American Aircraft Museum to aid in a fund raising drive and I have pointed them to your Tank Chats and your museum store items to give them some ideas of how to raise funds during the lock down.

Ive watched too much because I can hear David Fletcher when I read the Osprey books the I bought during lockdown. Also just saw Mr Willey on Netflix. Thank you all for providing intellectual content...because...I live in the US.

I ordered a 40 quid "lego" model and donation after watching last weeks Q&A to show a bit of support. It actually arrived during this Q&A. Timing, eh?

Ordered 2 books from the Tank Museum Store, from order to delivery, 8 days. That's Bovington to rural Texas. At any time that is darned good sevice.

He's such a charismatic, fun, intelligent guy, Indeed, I love the Tank Museum blokes and he's an absolute star. I imagine he's had a huge role in growing interest concerning the place as well.

David, please do a talk on the support arms to tanks eg REME, RAMC, RASC etc - they are an extremely important contribution and people may be interested to understand what and who contributes to a tank being able to fight

Something stays original when a large portion of what gives that vehicle a story and a history remains imagine tiger 131 but its entire Hull is a replica, it looses its wow factor, 131's story is amazing and it still has the scars to show ❤️ love the tank museum, and i will be bringing my dad when we are post covid keep up the good work guys

I'm glad you looked at the shipping again. I was going to order a collection but the shipping doubled the cost. I have been paring it down.

On The steam engine part of the conversation, most steam engine now preserved in the uk, dont have their original boilers as these were swapped all the time in their service life, also new parts were added all the time, rebuilding and upgrades were common as they grow older more parts are being replaced in preservation. The most important thing is that they are a true representation of an original loco that is running to day

David, you feel free to ramble on about any old thing that crosses your mind that you feel is related to the subject.
I will keep watching - it's like hanging out with you in your backyard ( sorry, I think that's "back-garden" in England, isn't it?).

I know you've done book reviews, especially of title you sell in the shop, but I am curious about what sort of books you have in your own collection? We get glimpses now & then. How about a short tour through a few of the more interesting or rare titles you own?

I know we're all anxious to get the world back working the way it's supposed to, but these informal chats will be something I will miss. Maybe there's a way to continue them on in some way afterwards.
Thanks,
Great work as always.
