EVH did use DiMarzio Super Distortions and also a very similar sounding Schecter PU. He did however change things out from year to year. So I am guessing these are in the ballpark. They still have kept a PAF vibe which really appeals to me.
Many modern Metal style PU's even those that are not really much higher than medium gain all have a particular modern voicing. I have the Duncan Pegasus that sounds very modern but has much lower output than the the JB's. I really like the Pariah they are definitely on my short list.
