A skunks spray is very important to them because it takes a long time to recharge it, lack for better words.
So they really need to be threatened or scared bad to spray something

Won’t spray unless they really think they need to as in a perceived threat. But just chilling and letting them be curious was, in my humble opinion, an ace move. Very cool to see.

There's no need to run. They're actually quite friendly, really. Just don't STARTLE them, yell at them, or do anything they might perceive as a threat. Refrain from trying to pet them - it might frighten them.

I smelled one on the way to camp on the weekend, at first it was like oh damn that some loud weed someone is smoking, few minutes later all window are down, and towl over nose for the next 30min, stunk so bad, realize my cousin and them that i was following hit one on the road
