Even us Indians would avoid Delhi when it comes to travel. Its not a place to 'visit'. Its the place where all the hustlers and people trying to make a living go. And its worse because most of the people come from near poverty level from surrounding poorest states of India. Specially Old Delhi is the worst of Delhi. Far Better places to visit in India specially in the North East Areas, Darjeeling, Himachal, South India (Kerela, Goa etc), Even some parts of Rajasthan and Gujrat.

You guys remind me of when I once back packed solo through Europe, during the spring of 1981. I was 19, still in the Canadian Military, and traveled in the days when Germany started with a West or East. Man I could tell you some of the wild stories from those days. Meeting characters straight out of a James Bond movie. No social media, nadda nothing. I almost ended up in East Germany by mistake, when I purchased a discount train ticket in Copenhagen that was in Danish.
