THE EGO is not an illusion. The illusion is that ego controls one. Basically the power of the ego is the illusion. The ego is your personality. The ego is a survival mechanism, that wants everything all the time. One must learn to temper the ego with reality. When one is in alignment with the heart and mind, the ego will fallaway of its own accord. When one is living in hate and fear the ego illusion is in total control. When one is living love daily the ego illusion, has no control.

The Ego exists somewhere on the spectrum between Secure and Insecure that develops according to the quality of nurture we received as children plus genetic inheritance. Secure Ego is open mindedness and exploratory, whereas Insecure Ego is close-mindedness and defensive. The Insecure Ego is the root of all evil.
