How To Block Youtube Channels, And Creating A Children's Safe Environment

This video goes through a method of creating a separate channel for your child and how to block undesired content from appearing in your feed. This solution is suitable for YouTube on mobile environments, smart TVs, and desktop.

three years after the first video and a $170 million fine later (for violating Children’s Online Privacy Protection and targeting children with ads without parental consent) google has not implemented any native way of blocking channels this is the only way currently available to have some control over content suggested by YouTube.

in the video I describe how to block a YouTube channel or videos from a specific channel, so you can somewhat restrict what your children are viewing, it is not a perfect solution, a perfect solution would be a dedicated feature provided by Googles YouTube, at this point (2020) this is the only solution that creates an environment where you can block YouTube channels from appearing on your android, ipad, iOS, or smart TV, and that's the major advantage of this method, the fact that the blocking occurs in multiple environments especially mobile

Ive been using utube kids and been blocking those bad influences channel (ryan, tasya etc) even report it. But their content always come back. I even clean my search history n clean the sub tab. At the end i never give my kids phone anymore and ask them to watch cartoon on the tv. Youtube seem to prioritised those content compared to viewer action. They even deliberately make hard to block content nowadays.

thank you for this great tips. i as adults also really hate those kinds of garbage and rubbish channels that keep up popping in my youtube home. please do keep updating on the newest tricks on tackling this kind of problems because youtube seems doesn't care about it.

there should be a simple block button and once you block that video none of that persons videos shows up anymore not even if you punch it in on search. no more showing up in your play list or anywhere. would solve problems but yoube solve problems to protect their customers, a simple block each person makes their own decision i dont want to see it. freedom of choice.

Some of the content here is not suitable for even adults. Youtube does not make any effort to filter and remove inappropriate content.

I've been trying this even before is saw this vid, and I still get the persons videos. What can I do?

I tried this many times. My 8 year old kid somehow finds those videos over and over again. It seems that the search option does not care whether a channel has been taken off from your suggestion list. If the search string is explicit, the results do show the channel that has been deleted from the suggestion.

The Youtube staff likes to put channel they support politically or they unfairly favor and promote in the "trending" section. If people could just block videos, everyone would see the trending list empty because it was filled with all the boring and annoying channels you blocked that youtube likes to pretend they're successful, saying they're trending when they aren't popular.

Youtube doesn't want to give the option to stop them from shoving their favoritism down your throat.

So basically, politics and money.
