To be fair, Obi-Wan originally failed to become a Jedi. He was put on the Agricultural Corps. Until Qui-Gon ran into him on a mission, and as a maverick is want to do, requested a rule break so Obi-Wan could become his Padawan. Also, there is usually a period of time between when a Jedi is Knighted and when they get their first Padawan. Presumably to gain more field experience, and help the lessons of their Trials of Knighthood sink in. Also to at least get a good career under their belt, I imagine. But Obi-Wan literally took on Anakin at the same time he was Knighted. Yeah, Obi-Wan was not ready, because Obi-Wan wanted to respect Qui-Gon's dying wish, and Yoda let him. So yeah, Obi-Wan literally asked for this. 😆 Bet that volcanic air smells like burnt disappointment's limbs and being a bit too big for your britches, don't it?
