Angus and Heather MacInnis tell the story of how they met, fell in love, and forty years later, found each other again and got married. This is a story of the obstacles and discrimination faced by people with intellectual disabilities. It is also a story of what is made possible by a supportive community. Most of all, it is a story of undying love.

Angus and Heather tell the story in their own voices. Mary MacDougall interviewed them. Filming and editing was done by Fritz Musser. This story was produced as part of L'Arche Cape Breton's annual Springfest show in May 2014.

Angus and Heather MacInnis teach us an important lesson, which sadly only a few of us learn: Don't walk away from another human being, who is down on his/her luck. TRUE LOVE can bring another human being back to a life filled with hope -- even when as low as in a stage of coma cut off from others by a drawn curtain.

For more than forty years uncaring policy makers in government, who have the authority to rule over others, robbed Angus and Heather of their right to live together as a happy couple. Will their story plant seeds for social change for intellectually challenged citizens?

Bravo, L'Arche Cape Breton!
