Mélanie Joly’s diplomatic ‘thawing’ visit to China shows signs of progress

Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly met with her Chinese counterpart in Beijing on Friday on a surprise visit to improve frosty diplomatic ties after years of mutual distrust. In a statement, China’s government said ‘both countries and peoples’ would benefit from better relations.
