Another reason why Fierce used to smell heavenly back in the day was a huge amount of Cashmeran, a woody-spicy-musky synthetic also known as Cashmere Woods, which was in the old Fierce note breakdown and was one of the main notes that people smelt in vintage Fierce which gave it that intense woody musk and spice kick that Fierce was known for. Fierce used to contain 1% Cashmeran, which is a ton considering that it's very strong raw material. Cashmeran is unfortunately now super restricted as it is a supposed skin sensitizer hence why Fierce doesn't smell the same anymore. Fierce also used to have a healthy dose of a patchouli isolate called Patchouli Acetate. The huge amount of Iso Gamma Super harmonized with the other huge amount of Cashmeran along with the oakmoss molecule Veramoss and the Patchouli Acetate which created a beautiful woody effect in unison with the tiny yet effective amount of Ambroxan( less than 0.5% of the formula). Fierce never contained any real oakmoss by the way. It is Veramoss.

I have the new one released this year and it’s really strong and has amazing longevity. They changed the cap to a vintage type metal cap and changed the picture.

The red letter 1st OG 20 years old I got in the mail a week ago- You are somewhat right about it being a bit off. The opening is unfamiliar, I either ignored the opening when I was younger, have different tastes now, or the opening went bad. HOWEVER. the base is the EXACT way I remember it- nothing missing from the Fierce Nostalgia. Incredible. Incredible. Incredible Iso E Super hypnotic base. I felt like I was 18 again. ONE spray on my wrist and I was at an Abercrombie shop in 2004 for 12 hours. God man. Epic. No newer batch can replicate that feeling I just refuse to believe it. The Vintage OG red letter bottles I swear are like a Parfum concentration. Hard to believe that's all alcohol and no natural niche ingredients.

What I am CONFUSED about is whether or not those silver cap bottles are the same OG red letter formula??? I had the red letter in 2006 then never got a new bottle to experience the evolution/ timeline of the fragrance.

Josh. So, first off...thank you again for all the hardwork, and time you put in to your reviews. Your passion, and dedication do not go unnoticed. I'm actually VERY glad you did this video! I absolutely love Fierce. Not going to get into the boring details, but it truly does hold a special place in my heart, Lol. Anyway...I remember buying it in 2012. I was just so totally blown away by it. Was perfect to me. Scent, performance, projection, sillage. All a 10. Went 6 yrs without it. Just received a bottle as a gift this past Christmas....very disappointed. Virtually GONE after a couple hours. I'm not one of these "it's been reformulated" nazis...but it is just NOT what it was before. Sad.

after buying a decant of fierce intense and the 2002 red letter fierce, I think they all smell very similar. I don't think the differences are big enough to warrant buying intense or a vintage version in my opinion. Here are the differences I noticed.

- 2016 fierce : kind of annoying citrus and alcohol-y in the beginning to middle, but I think it eventually does dry down to the sweet, warm, musky base which is my favorite part about fierce. I remember smelling that note on my clothes for days even when I had a 2011 bottle years ago. I remember loving that bottle.

- 2002 fierce: just like you say in this video, very weak. Can hardly smell it on myself when I spray it, even directly on my wrist or on my shirt. Degraded over time. Maybe lasts... 1 hour? Have only gotten compliments twice, and it was 15 min after spraying it like 4-5 times. I will say, I think either the top notes have faded with time in my 2002 fierce, or the top notes are slightly different. I detect much more of a warm spiciness in this formulation when I first spray it.

- Fierce Intense: I liked it, but it's way too expensive. I got 1 or 2 compliments, but it doesn't settle into the musky base quite the same way normal fierce does. It has a real citrusy, "fierce top notes" punch. To me, it smells like 2016 fierce on steroids, only it doesn't settle into the warm musky base in my opinion.

Bottom line, the 2017 and onward formulations of fierce are not that bad. Don't blow 150-200 dollars on a "vintage' bottle. They smell 98% the same. I think the difference between them is the way they morph while they're on your skin/clothes.

Hey Josh. Good to know about Fierce. I don't know about that at all, except for your videos. I love First Instinct, so now I can cop a bottle of Fierce. Thx again

Good comparison, i have most versions and like you i think the black wooden cap version actually smells the best, i tried it when it changed to the larger lettering but it seemed so weak, i believe they have just changed the bottle again. I cant really smell the black cap version after twenty minutes but not sure if its my nose or not. Intense smells thicker and one of the best smells ever but i wish they would give you 100ml for the same price, they would sell millions, i also have a 30ml red letter bottle that smells pretty awfull in the opening before turning into something that resembles fierce, i think this one has perhaps spoilt with age and would not pay the money for another. I have just bought 3 bottles of a fierce clone in the uk in the aldi supermarket and its easily the best copy i have smelt, really enjoying it for the last few weeks. Great video, cheers.

They changed the bottle design again. I wonder how 2019 version stacks up. The last time I purchased Fierce was back in 2014 and remember it smelling identical to how I remember the vintage smelling, but just having lower projection.

Great review Josh. What we really need to track down is a bottle of the red lettered Fierce. That is the true OG original. I actually worked at the store when that came out in the early 2000’s. As you know A&F is currently going hard with marketing the rebranding Fierce but it’s just a new bottle design. Same juice. Oh well. I don’t spray Fierce Intense much bc i want to preserve it.

On a side note, I highly highly recommend First Instinct Blue. I just bought a 2nd bottle of it on E-Bay for a Tester 3.4oz $28 shipped! This is actually my new Fierce Alternative. Would love to see you do a review on it.

Thanks my man. God bless.

You probably need to find the Red Letter Fierce. I had 2 sealed boxes and I open one and it was a total time machine, Nothing chaged. I keep it vacumed sealed and break it out on occasion. The other bottle I'm saving for my son as a gift one day. I hope it holds up. Thank you for the great videos.

Great video. Too bad the silver cap one degraded. I have a silver cap that's empty and I still smell it time form time. The silver stuff smells thicker, slightly sweeter, and better blended. I had a bottle from 2013 that was reformulated and it has degraded, the dry down almost makes me sick so I stopped wearing it. I recently got a 2018 bottle and to my surprise it is actually pretty good, smells more synthetic than the original, but the lasting power is pretty good, I can smell it on my clothes the next day.

Great video Josh. You might be THE expert when it comes to the Fierce fragrance. I have Fierce Intense (recent), and it is very strong (at least for the first couple hours).. it has quite the punch to it..

I so much love Fierce, the sad thing is it hard to find in my country. 😭

Yep, you and I had the same issues. The silver cap just hasn't held up over time. My eBay seller promised me I'd be "very satisfied and surprised" by what I was getting, but unfortunately I was terribly underwhelmed and like you said, it had too much of a strong alcohol opening and barely any longevity.

The newer fierce intense is good and I like it, but I also have projection issues with it. If you go to the Abercrombie site it seems like they've discontinued Fierce Intense as it is no longer for sale. They've done this weird rebranding where they are heavily promoting fierce now, but I've seen in a few other comment sections that this 2019 version is also pretty watered down and not great, so I'm not sure if I want to smell it and be disappointed. It's odd that on the website all of these reviews say "one or two squirts lasts all day on my man" but I just find that hard to believe.

Meh, sorry you had to waste the money in the silver caps, I know the feeling, I got let down pretty badly too hoping that I'd get that original smell and strength. I just don't think we'll get it again. None of the cloned versions or imitations do it for me either.

Maybe one day we'll get something comparable to the original. We can only hope.

They now have fierce intense in a new bottle for $98 on the site.

Is Parfums de Marly Percival a good alternative?

What about Dark gray metal cap with words engraved on it? Why no much talk about it? I see either black one or vintage sliver comparision or reviews

I bought the one with gray engraved cap and i can return it back (i can exchange it with black cap) can anyone let me know which one is better? Any guide for fierce versions?

Hey mate, Can please help me spot a fake bottle? Signs? Clues? 6.7oz bottle here. I bought my first bottle back in 2011 and just got a new one last week.
