Recently acquired this exact model. I've looked up Scott's Riding Mowers and everyone was pressing the brake, putting it into gear, THEN releasing the brake to go. However, on my mower I had to release the brake before putting it into forward or reverse. I thought something was wrong with the mower. Nope, that is how this particular model works.
