The best way to treat someone who comes out is with love and respect. When someone kicks out their kid there are consequences so it is best to think carefully before you speak. Her mom didn't do that but later realized that it doesn't matter who her daughter loves, she wants to be there to love her.

When my 17 year old granddaughter told me that she was gay she was afraid of what I was going to say . But I told her I knew you was gay since you were 12 years old . And I said you are still the same person to me, and as for your preference that's none of my business. And lefted at that . We are still very close.
