I grew up in Brooklyn and you made the perfect egg cream. You are right that one MUST use Fox’s U Bet syrup; cold 100% Whole milk.
I have 6 containers of U Bet, whole milk and of cause seltzer in refrigerator. One key is to use a glass, not a plastic container.

Live in UK, No foxes U-Bet here at all. I made my own syrup using the recipe of lofty persuits and it was pretty decent. Everyone thinks I'm odd for drinking milk with fizzy water.
