I used to work for a Towing company AAA Roadside service and one early morning a guy locked his key in his truck and it was in the center console cup holder and only had a small ring on it so I took the rubber end off the rod and was able to fish it out because the doors were anti theft and couldn't be unlocked and a driver had been there before me and refused the service and the customer was really happy

That's why you have an extra key hidden on your car that doesn't have a transponder. It will open doors but it won't start the car.
