Excellent video. I've got to replace a Copper main waste line in my house that is starting to leak and this answered my questions regarding how to tie into the cast hub. Thank you for sharing the knowledge. The name of your channel cracked me up, by the way.

Alot easy way is to just use a rubber mallet, been doing it for over 20 years never had an issue, I'm a self-employed licensed master plumber in 3 states and the easiest way is to use plumbers grease or dawn dishwashing liquid and a rubber mallet, saves time and you have more control

Shalom Aleichem! Just found your channel brother! Life long jewish carpenter here. I just bought a house in eastern Ohio built in 1918. The home has been vacant 33 years. The plumbing and electrical is all original. I begin the rehab of the house in 2 weeks. Thanks for posting this video!

Good video. I have one suggestion. Prior to putting the gasket in the cast iron, put the pvc pipe in the gasket all the way. Make a mark or use tape on the pvc at where you want the pvc to finish. Then remove the PVC from the gasket and proceed as usual. Takes the guesswork out as to whether it is in properly. Also liquid hand soap is a good lubricant.

Thanks for the tip! I was having a hard time getting the 4in into the donut even with soap. I did one years ago but couldn't remember. My main thing is hvac but I get a few plumbing calls. Once i busted out the grinder and beveled the edges of the pvc she went right in with a few taps. Thanks

Good job ! That's what real plumber looks like in the field. Plumbing is a heavy, physically demanding, dirty work. Be aware of YouTube plumbers in neon shirts and brand new tools with minimal experience. They misrepresent the trade

If I have a difficult gasket to install I put it in boiling water for a few minutes. Lube up the pipe with dish soap. fish out the gasket with a wood stick drop it in the hub and then put the lubed up pipe in. If you work fast it goes in easy

Just found your channel. I'm new to the plumbing trade (came from industrial maintenance), and I'm also jewish. Subscribed immediately. It's good to see other jews in the trades.

I started plumbing just a few years ago mostly doing new residential homes so no real cast iron experience. I'd like to pour a lead and oakum fitting in at least once. I like all of your tips! Lots to learn in this trade!

Thanks so much. I beveled the end and put a piece of 2x4 on top and banged it in with a little lube. Big help, thanks again

I can’t believe you were using PVC glue as a lubricant and a diamond wheel to shave the PVC. Just wow dude.
