Buccaneers were a specific type of pirate. Buccaneers were pirates that raided in the Carribean. Privateers were private mercenaries given a sort of license to raid enemy ships of the nations they were hired by. Corsairs were a specific type of privateer that was hired by France or from the Barbary Coast. And finally, Marauders were your typical pirate and as just a word for raider.
