The US is fielding autonomous drones as it prepares for a war in the Indo-Pacific region. A war in the Pacific would see the US against China, a technologically advanced opponent, and the increased risk makes the use of drones a priority. In particular, autonomous air and sea drones can now be used in logistical roles, enabling the US military the use of new strategies over a battlefield several times larger than the Middle East or Afghanistan. For these reasons analysing how drones are changing America's wars can become a way to understand the character of a Pacific War. In this video we will analyse how autonomous drones are now used by the US military in logistical purposes and we will try to answer two main questions. How these drones change US' wars? How can these drones be used in an invasion of Taiwan?

to be honest these drones can also be used for mine laying, a hull with a openable bottom hull section or some way of physically getting its cargo in the water without sinking itself could relase new generation mines (which are torpedoes that stay inactive untill a signal is given, basically allowing for a covert mine laying option, patrolling against them would be down to chance, tho the weakest point in the link would be if they must mantain an active uplink, if ai driven, these things would be nigh undetectable

Makes sense that we would adopt narco subs, seeing as half of the Marine Corps is made up of Rodrigueses, Hernandez, Sanchez, Ramirez, Santiago, Fuentes, Castro, etc.

It’s simply just not the Marine Corps unless there’s at least one of each last name in your company/battery.

I remember when Not What You Think covered this topic. These are probably necessary because big cargo ships in a war with China would probably be about as fortunate as a whale in the vicinity of RFK Jr. with a Sawzall.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the C-130 Hercules was originally designed to move the equivalent of a railroad boxcar and has a hold of about 41x10x9 feet. I wonder how an oceangoing drone with a hold that big would do in long range (covert) resupply. The 5 ton payload drone described here sounds a lot like an autonomous ocean going 5 ton truck.

History repeating it self. in ww2 Japan had to resupply bases scattered throughout the pacific. US called them the Tokyo Express, didn't workout too well

Always amazing content 🎉. I was beginning to think that you'd retired. I am deeply fascinated by the focus on theatre logistics.
