Civil society groups have expressed skepticism about the impact the upcoming UN Summit of the Future will have on institutional changes to how multilateral formations including the United Nations and the Security Council function.
This comes after the Secretary General Antonio Guterres this week called the Summit an essential first step towards making global institutions more legitimate, effective and fit for the world of today and tomorrow.
Member states continue to negotiate three outcome documents - a Pact for the Future, a Global Digital Compact and a Declaration on Future Generations but there is growing concern that member states are not always in a mood for compromise.
