I probably shouldn't be, but I am still surprised that Mordekaisers share their pocket dimensions. One would think that this would be separate space slightly overlaping with real map, and not just a layer that can be accesed by second Morde, but I guess there is only one Underworld in stock, so they have to share

A brief explanation or assumption about whats going on here from a VFX/game development point of view.

There is a rendering feature referred to as a Custom Depth Pass. A depth pass captures an 'image' per frame encoded with the distance from the camera to the surface that each pixel is representing. This is commonly used for sorting layers of transparent objects like particles in VFX. The custom depth pass is used to capture specific objects or surfaces which allows you mask out specific features and render something different in its place (this is often used to show an outline or representation of a character through a wall like an xray, as the custom depth pass will capture the silhouette of the object regardless of where it is). There are plenty of creative ways to use this unique mask (like selection outlines etc), so it can be utilized in VFX quite well.

Now for this specific effect. I think Mordekaisers ultimate likely uses custom depth to mask out the areas where they want to show the death realm, and they replace the masked areas that use custom depth with the death realm effect likely rendered as a loaded layer that (probably) sits behind the map geometry.
For whatever reason, i imagine that they are using custom depth for something specific to render Nunu/Willumps Ultimate, which is unintentionally applying the mask to display the death realm that is being rendered behind the map when in Mordekaisers Ultimate.

TL:DR
VFX Cheat for Morde interacts with similar VFX Cheat for Nunu, and causes spooky holes.

These layer bugs are actually a really fun peek behind the curtain, maybe they should do a dev-blog delving into how these textures and effects are actually layered.

This happened to me in an ARURF. I so happened to be playing High Noon Mordekaiser and the enemy team so happened to have a Space Groove Nunu by pure chance. It was so bizarre when it happened and I even thought about sending it to Vandiril but I guess someone else beat me to the punch. Maybe it was the Nunu I played against, lol.
