Over the years, I submitted my resume to many employers & gotten interviewed. Truthfully when I got interviewed I didn't give the best answers. Back in 2011 when I discovered Don Georgevich book - it opened up my eyes & made me realize what I what didn't say & didn't do. After reading through the common Q&A of job interviews- I basically used those responses & it got me an job offer. Cant thank Don enough for sharing his insight to better those seeking employment

#6 happens a lot in government employment. By law, they have to post and interview, but the position is being held for someone else. Hoop jumping is such a waste of your time.

I would add that there may also be an unspoken bias that is illegal in the EEOC laws and these may be couched as "cultural fit" or stating you are "overqualified" (ageism). I've been seeing many subcurrent signs of ageism-this is rampant in the fields I am applying for.

There is something about your presentation style that I really like, dont know what exactly. I watch every single video you make even if the topic is repeated. Do you have podcast on Spotify or any content on LinkedIN Learning?

I believe HR is a nuisance in the hiring process. Most interviews are like beauty contests. Looking for perfection in the candidates is a mental illness.

If you don’t get past the application/ recruiter interview stage (and you think you’re a great fit for the job) it can be worth finding out who the hiring manager is and dropping them a message. Sometimes recruiters cross-reference job descriptions with your application based on key words, and don’t understand how qualified you are if you’ve given achievement examples over just writing a huge list of skills.

I don't think I've ever really wanted a specific job. What I really hate is talking to HR idiots who do preliminary interviews.

Culture fit. Amen. Unfortunately I took what I thought was a dream position a couple of months ago.
I SO didn't fit. I'm a livewire and they were very staid and formal.
I was out in two weeks by mutual agreement.

At what point it is best to ask HR or HM to connect me with someone already is or has been in the role I am interviewing for?

getting a good job nowadays is pretty much on par with winning the lottery. so many looking/ trying/applying only 1 gets chosen.
