Be Careful What You Order From Facebook Ads

We've all seen Facebook ads for items and prices that seem too good to be true. I thought I'd place an order for a Mandalorian helmet I saw on Facebook. Spoiler: it's not exactly as advertised.

I work at a credit card company in disputes. Like half of the disputes start off with "I ordered something off facebook/instagram/etc."

Gotta love how FB allows rampant/obvious scam adds all day, but if you post a picture of a pancake that slightly resembles a nipple, you get a 30 day ban.

I was expecting a keychain size helmet, not a rubber mask :D

Your lucky you actually got it. I never got anything from Facebook ads and I would get a fake delivery confirmation shipment.

Why isn't Facebook being held accountable for false advertising?

I ordered a nuke bomb lamp one time. It came about 6 months later and was a ball of cotton wrapped in a light bulb that caught fire after 10 minutes.

Facebook needs to be more responsible for these scams. They just take the money and turn a cheek until too many people complain.

Even seller doesn't want it back 😂

I trust NOTHING advertised on Facebook.

It’s weird to think that social media platforms will block swearing and things like that, but they allow actual false advertising. And they don’t get questioned for allowing it.

"Mom I want a Helmet"
"No, we already have a Helmet at home"

What most people don't realize is that you can call your bank and ask for a chargeback/dispute, they will give you back your money and fine the merchant

One time I saw a fb ad for a “free grinder” and it said JUST PAY SHIPPING. I commented and said “it’s not free if you pay for shipping” and the actual stores account messaged me saying “fuck you” and blocked me lol

My husband had this happen with a light up Star Trek Christmas tree topper last year. They sent a generic plastic gold star and then went down the same route of saying they would give him a tiny fraction of the price back but he went through PayPal and got the whole transaction refunded, no questions asked

"You cant treat customers like this in 2021 and stay in business" Oh, you're not familiar how it works in China, yes, they will be staying in business, maybe not with the same name, but they will be staying in business, you're lucky you didn't just get a picture of the helmet lol.

Seller: How about you give it as a gift and give $5 back?
Me: How about I issue a chargeback.

I purchased two of these! One for my son and one for myself. We had the same reaction. I told my son that I would buy him a real Mandilorian helmet along with a good costume when the comic conventions open back up. Until then, we will just run around the house getting high off of the cheap plastic and paint that’s in these China made rubber masks!

"I'm a grown man and I don't have time to play with Star Wars costumes."
Me: *Gets offended and looks up at Boba Fett helmet mounted over monitor.*
End of video.

Okay...maybe I was too hasty.
