Tennis Forehand Power - 3 Drills on How To Hit Powerful Forehands
What you probably did not know is that most pro male tennis players reach average speeds between 71 to 83 mph on their forehands. What allows them to hit it so hard?

Jack Sock holds the record with an average speed of 86 mph with his modern forehand. Dominic Thiem, Stan Wawrinka and Juan Martin Del Potro are 3 of the other players in the above 80 mph club.
Federer, Djokovic, Nadal, Dimitrov all come in between 77-79 mph with Andy Murray forehand speeds averaging at 75 mph although his fastest clocked speed is actually 124mph!

Pro tennis players use a combination of Wrist Lag and Racquet lag, Body rotation and leg power as well as using the correct stance on every shot to generate the force needed to hit the ball hard. In this video we cover them all and help you join the 80mph club.

Do you work on these with your coach?

Knowing how to do, showing how to do it and actually doing it are worlds apart. You guys make it look easy. The whip on that forehand is frightening. 👏

once again I'd like to conduct a sociological research on the ones who gave thumbs down...
Other than that, I've just started focusing on the "lag thing" and whenever I succeed I can see (and feel) the difference: shots are cannonballs!
Thanks for confirming I'm in the right path, you're helpful and clear as usual!

Hi
just to let you know, I am not a tennis player, but I have incorporated some elements of your drills in my golf swing. that is the wrist lag and racquet lag. Thanks a lot

Once again brilliant! I like the verbal explanations and the visual demonstrations. What height are you trying to hit the ball? Chest height, waist height? In between? Are you trying to hit the ball at the top of the bounce regardless of what height it is? Or are you hitting it on the rise or letting it drop down to waist height or whatever? What is your intention on your follow through?

Really cool on explaining when and how to use the open stance. This will help me deal with some short and wide balls.

What I would appreciate for a future video is analyzing the most suitable/ideal swing path when deciding to hit the ball on a high contact point, both in forehands and backhands.
Let's say the ball is deep, it's coming high and I don't have the time to hit it on the ideal height. How should I make the preparation+swing of the racquet on a high contact point shot?
I am a beginner and I find myself hitting deep balls moving backwards instead of moving the body weight center forward towards the ball, because I don't estimate in time that it's going deep, or higher than expected. But I still hit almost all the balls somewhere between chest and waist height. What are the pros and cons of hitting the ball on a higher spot, but with better body balance (moving forward instead of backwards)?

Hello both, thanks for this video. I understand more now the situations when to use neutral or open stand also.
With the 2 hand backhands, would you say that the same drills would help? Or different drills would be applicable? Neutral stand with backhands is more the rule indeed.
Also I feel that going low in forehand is more natural than with the backhand or do you recommand also to go as low in 2 hand backhands as with forehand? Thanks for your answers!

It is much easier to hit a ball just dropping in front of you than a ball coming fast at you, please do a video of how to prepare or maintain that power position for fast coming balls.

Where can one buy the cubes/support rectangles shown in this video?

The problem for me is that I’m a little late getting through my motion so I catch the ball late. Any tips on the timing and where the opposite foot needs to be at the time of the bounce ?
