My favorite was Kindred by Octavia E. Butler. It incorporates time travel and historical elements while also discussing important topics regarding slavery. Could not put it down. Definitely look into the triggers tho

I’m adding so many of these books to my tbr oh my goodness!! I’m hoping to read a bit more literary + historical fiction this year to step a bit out of my comfort zone. The way you described these books makes me want to go to the library or book store right now haha! Also I appreciate what you said about reading goals. Quality > quantity for sure. I always set goals for fun but I like getting to enjoy what I’m reading without feeling immense pressure!
