Garfield for sure. Holland, in my weightless opinion, is prime spiderman. In that, I mean, if Spiderman had all of the charisma and self confidence of Tony Stark, prime Spiderman.
Where as Maguires Spiderman arch was probably a bit closer to "real life." Maguires Spiderman dealt with all the bullying and BS a geek in the 80s and 90s would have dealt with. And his, all be it brief, personality change when he was first invaded by Venom, thats a power trip I could see a lot of bullied people taking.
As for the comment about Maguires Parker not being about to get someone like Dunst's Mary Jane. MJ was, in that universe at least, also a bit of a geek. Less cheerleader, popular pretty girl and more of a sundress book worm. Debate and science club material, dolled up a bit for the viewers enjoyment. Her and Maguires Peter would have been in the same room quite a lot, were, in fact. It makes sense.

I grew up with Tobey and went through high school with Andrew spiderman. I gotta say Tobey spiderman can fight but never really cracks jokes and mostly has his mask off all the time while Andrew may have crappy stories but I enjoyed him putting on the mask 24/7 and cracking jokes 24/7 and that is spiderman to me. Yes Tobey can throw hands and has the best stories but Andrew is Spiderman to me

Andrew was the best Spiderman. Toby was best Peter (minus him being a stalker), Tom had the vest Voice.

Andrew Garfield is perfect as Spiderman, he is an excellent actor and I always can relate and empathize with the emotions he's transmitting. But with Toby McGuire I often find myself thinking he's kind of ridiculous or his expressions make me feel uncomfortable.

Also I think it has everything to do with the year the movie was made... He never seemed a student to me. And the interactions with MJ are less interesting than the relationship Andrew's Peter Parker has with Gwen Stacy
