Man, I remember when Flip Cameras were the new hotness, so many upstart bloggers started with these things.

Just found mine in a drawer. Got it for Christmas when I was a kid and here I am all these years later a digital media major. Crazy

The first camera got that actually worked. So many digital cameras and camcorders had issues. I always loved the simplicity of this one.

I dug out my flips (I own 3) after viewing this. Popped some batteries in and they still work. I plan on doing some vlogging with them as a tribute. Thanks for the review dude.

I had one that I got in 2008 and I used it so much for old LPs and stuff on my old channel. I did vlogs, sketches, all kinds of videos with it and I loved using it. I had two of them, come to think of it. A basic white one, and then years later I bought one of the mini ones off Amazon

When I was a kid I really really wanted to get one of these. I used to watch loads of video comparisons and whatnot trying to decide what to get, but in the end I never got one. I can't remember if it's that my parents wouldn't buy one, or if it's because I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted a Mino or an Ultra or what. I had a Sony Handycam SR-30 anyway, and then I got a Sony NEX-5 which was basically the precursor to the Sony A7 line (The very first E-mount camera). Think I'm gonna get ahold of one of these Flip cameras on eBay just to fulfil that small childhood dream :P

Got mine Christmas Eve of 2009. Uploaded my first ever video to YouTube on my old account May 22nd, 2010. Wonder if I can still find that camera in the house somewhere...

My Flip UltraHD takes really good 720p HD footage which is still decent for online video on most mobile devices. I produced some pretty great quality projects with my Flip. Still miss the being able to directly plug it in via USB. No need to connect a cord or remove a memory card. Alas the lens cracked when it hit the side walk one day.

Too bad this happened. I found my old Flip in a desk drawer, plugged it in to my computer and not much happened. The battery was dead. I noted that it would also take three AAA batteries and so I put them in. This time it turned on but the screen was a mess of vertical colored lines. I pressed the record button and the lines began moving and the red LED record light on the front came on...but there was no identifiable image on the screen. Something else is amiss. Is there any legitimate tech help out there for this product?

Outstanding documentary! It’s very well crafted and it flows from one segment to the next very effectively.

I miss my flip camera a lot. I received it as a Christmas present when I was 12 back in 2009 and I stopped using it in the summer of 2014, not because it stopped working, just because I received a more up to date camera. I must have shot about 1000 clips during this time.

There’s lots of reasons why I miss the flip camera.

Firstly you could just use your phone, but unfortunately using the video functions on your phone drains battery life very quickly, furthermore you have also got to store your videos on your phone with lots of other stuff (music, messages etc) which doesn’t leave lots of storage for videos.

In addition the flip was basically indestructible. I dropped mine off a two meter balcony by accident and it was absolutely fine minus a slight dent in the corner. By contrast if you drop an iPhone two meters it will immediately shatter and you’ll loose everything. Not to mention that FlipShare was (and still is) one of the easiest video organising softwares every made. I mean the quality was bad but it wasn’t exactly diabolical. There was much worse out there.

I have got several shots at home which are in very low light and the camera still performs well. Additionally the sound quality was also very good.

I have several of them, use them mounted everywhere for insert shots to my main DV Cams! I then convert the mp4 format to .wmv than edit with Adobe Pro!
