This is my The Little Mermaid Movie Reaction and small Review, where I give my immediate reaction to the new The Little Mermaid movie with The Flick Pick, featuring Halle Bailey, Melissa McCarthy, and Javier Bardem. The youngest of King Triton's daughters, Ariel is a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. Longing to find out more about the world beyond the sea, Ariel visits the surface and falls for the dashing Prince Eric. Following her heart, she makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to experience life on land.

Thank you for this. I think the world owes that incredible young woman an apology. The abuse that she received for being cast in a roll was beyond disgusting. She did an INCREDIBLE job and despite all the horrific online trolling she’s had, she’s still put her heart and soul into it and it paid off ❤

Hollywood should’ve capitalized on Halle and Jonah’s chemistry and put them in more stuff together because in hindsight this was like their lil Bridgerton story 😅 so good! Hope they come back together again on a project!

To me it was too similar to The Lion King remake. They promised changes and then they didn’t go far enough into them and reduced them to simple exposition dumps in dialogue rather than be shown. Giving us a whole hour just to still tick through the beats of the animated film. I actually thought Eric was the best character in this. The trailers didn’t show him off at all and I was really happy to see in the film he was upbeat and happy guy most of the time and not the serious sour puss the trailers indicated. But his character was quite simplified in the animated so he had the most room to grow. I wanted more time with Triton and Ursula’s sibling issues and more time driving home Ariel’s conflict with Triton. Hopefully some deleted scenes!
