It’s crazy how FromSoft make these characters that just outshine the rest.

They put you in bleak, brutal worlds where literally everyone wants you dead.

Then you get that one companion. The man that doesn’t let the harsh world obstruct they’re views. You’re another person trying to survive this terrible world. He knows you’re really scared deep down, and he’ll pick you up when you’re knocked down. Or in some cases, you picked him up and he wants to do anything to see the debt repaid.

This was such an awesome mission, decimating MT squads and the street cleaner alongside him, taking out Snail, with this awesome music in the background. I was so sad when Rusty's radio cut off :(

I wish I could properly articulate my thoughts on Rusty's character. He is the hero that Rubicon needs but the scope of the conflict was beyond him. He was fighting for the future of the planet and its people but 621 is fighting for the future of humanity. No matter what course that takes Rusty will always be left behind. He will never fly high enough. And that is why I shed a tear when I hear this song. He is doomed to fail but he will never give up hope or back down from the fight.

I love replaying the fights in this game, but I especially enjoy Rusty’s the most. There’s just this personal connection tied into the badass factor of the fight, you start the fight assault boosting each other, in one last incredible showdown. You’re moving with the viciousness and ferocity of an anime character who just lost everyone, clearly took a fatal hit and survived, and has gone berserk in one last incredible rampage…against your rival and best friend. It’s a bittersweet concoction of emotions, fight or flight instincts, and tough decisions. What a masterpiece, truly.
